Just arrived. New to slide guitar, new to this forum and new to youtube http://www.youtube.com/carsickphil Look forward to learning and sharing with this community.
I had a listen to the longer of your Youtube videos.
Nicely understated, subtle, and incredibly well-controlled playing. I thought it was great.
Welcome to the party, Phil; we think you'll like it here.

Alan, thank you for your kind and encouraging remarks. I've just had a look at your website. I too am a classical guitarist who likes early music (playing the easier pieces of Dowland and the like). The slide guitar thing is a new venture. But somehow there is a common feel in the melancholia of slide blues and early lute music.
Holy smokes, had a listen to the slow blues improv, CSPhil. That was fantastic.
You should post it in the Hear Here section; it will get more listens and feedback there.
It reminded me of part of Angelo Badalamenti's score for the movie The Straight Story. His has a different tempo and a violin rather than slide but give a listen:

Welcome!

Thanks Boxboy. Very kind. I've just posted the slow blues on Hear Here section as you suggest. Loved listening to the music from Straight Story. One of my favorite movies.
And thanks again to Alan, now working on converting some John Dowland 16th century music to slide guitar! Bit of challenge for me, but slowly getting there.
Having looked at Alan's fine website and listened to his lovely renditions of early music, I thought I would play some Dowland and adapt it to slide guitar. The results for your amusement are at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgcLW5_jt98
