Yes I am a beginner here. I picked up my first electric 6 string a few weeks ago. While I usually devote 15-20 minutes a day, I still haven't grasped the concept on how to proficiently play it yet. It seems I do a lot of sliding around between frets and such. Hoping to pick up some pointers here to help me get better at it.

First of all, welcome aboard! Just stick to it through the initial problems with chord changes and before you know it, you'll be playing songs. Remember, learning an instrument is a marathon, not a sprint.

Well as a long term beginner, I say Welcome to GN, AND to the guitar!!! A few weeks isnt a long time, so dont get discurgeged with it. Just keep at it, take it slow, and pick it up, and play as much as you can!! learn a few chords, take your time changing between them, and things will move along fast. Check out a few of the beginner lessons here at GN. Spend some time learning a few basic chords, changing between them, an then some time working on a simple song.. If you can spend 20 min to a 1/2 hour most days, it will come quick, and there are a lot of guys here that can help you with issues you dont eaven know about yet!!! :D
