Hey all,

since this is my very, very, very first post on this site (the first of many) I thought it had better be in this section!

My name is Gareth, I'm 25 and I live in the Isle of Man which is a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea. Although we speak English our nationality is Manx which is more related to the celts of Scotland and Ireland than England. Our national language is Manx Gaelic although its not really spoken that much, only by people concerned with keeping our heritage alive.

I've been playing the guitar for two years now after being inspired by a Spanish Blues player called Felix Slim. He was playing at the local blues festival ( http://www.bigwheelblues.com/ ) and really blew me away. Bands like The Black Keys and The White Stripes really inspire me now, making the most of minimal production values and producing a really raw sound.

Anyway, I've already gained a lot of knowledge from this site and wish to thank the selfless hard work of everyone involved. The Johny Cash "Hurt" and Neil Young "Old Man" have been standouts for me.

Keep up the hard work fella's! :)

Welcome to GN.
If you need it, there's a good electronics guy on the IOM, who runs a place called Don Audio.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Thanks for the tip about the electronics guy greybeard, does he build custom models or just supply the parts for DIY? I'm going to be moving over to an electric model soon so I'll try to track him down which cant be too hard to do on this Rock! :D

In a world as big as our own you would think I would be able to find an "Isle of Women" but welcome to GN.

Gaz,
He builds as well as repairs and reconditions, mostly amps, but also effects pedals.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
