My brother and me hosted the first annual Garage Roof Festival this weekend.

Three bands, barbeque and lots of nice people. We had a terrific time!! Most of the guest claimed they did too :D

"The Country Band - Mooh" started out. Two of them with guitars, banjo-guitar, accordion and many lovely tunes with beautiful vocal harmonies. No pics yet

"Fritidsordningen" followed up. Bossa, blue bossa, jazz. Two amazing guitar players and a bass. Eventually they had two guests on stage. One on upright bass, the other on Alto Horn(!) and Timple (5-string ukulele from the Canary Islands!)

My group "The Leeman Brothers" closed the show. When we started around 2230 the sun was still up

Some extremely poor videos / sounds clips below (but I am so very glad my daughter taped most of it with her cell phone :) )

(.3gp clips, opens in RealPlayer. 1-2 MB files, direct links)

That's one rocky garage roof! Is this a Scandy thing? I never noticed it when over there myself, mustn't have ventured far enough into suburbia.

Looks like awesome fun tho, book me in for the second annual fest if there is still room!!! :D

You're on Sara - probably the last saturday in june 2010! All friends with instruments are welcome! :)

One thing I forgot - It's kinda funny all these people have been rehearsing to play on stage, but the best part turns out to be the jam afterwards. I think we were 11-12 people standing in circle and playing in the night. A couple of guitars, a few basses, two accordions, banjo, harmonica. WOW :D

A timple! I didn't remember that instrument. I think I saw it sometimes in the Canary Islands, probably in Lanzarote (or Lancelot), I was seeing some local bands that sang "isa", typical music from the Canary Islands (I think it could be similar to the habaneras).

The upright bass is also cool! 8)

And, as usual, you sound very good! I was listening Cocaine, I will listen the others later.

Thanks nuno - I figured you might have seen one. (actually the girl with the timple was cheating - she had tuned it like a guitar ithout the 6th string. but it sounded cool)

What about next year nuno? wanna come?

Well I didn't see any garage bands, though I did see a roof....looks a really peaceful setting to play music. The sort of place where you can just pick up an acoustic and lose several hours.

Having trouble getting at the soundfiles, though - Real Player wants to add software, every time I give it the go-ahead it grinds to a dead stop.....

So, Lars, is that an open invitation to GN members for next year? I've never been to Norway........

:D :D :D

Thanks EB

I had some problems too with the files - it's the weird format from SE phones.

yes Vic - if you wanna see Norway, end of june is beatuiful. We will definitely host something similar next year. I can't promise you to the be the head line of the festival, but I can promise you a gorgeous jam afterwards!

The location is 40 min south of Oslo. Transport from Oslo can be arranged, probably in my 35 year old british car :)

There is plenty of room for a festival camp. We had three tents this year. Let's talk about details later :)

edit - I don't have too many pictures yet. Here is one so blurred it's kinda cool. Yours truley on lead guitar ;)

Thanks for the invitation Lars! Norway is a very beautiful country. I'll try to make some arrangements, it could be a great time there! :D

Funny...I didn't think that picture very blurred. Until I viewed it from a laptop. Says a lot about the iPhone's pixel count.
