Medical up date by Trev ...

I have not made a big deal out of what happened to me as since my accident my father in law passed away and as far as I can see my problem was a drop in the ocean compared with what some people go thro esp my late father in law in his final hours ...

September 10 2008 : Work accident , leaving my me with 3 slipped discs and 3 ruptured discs , Sciatica nerve problems ...

I have had 4 procedures done all with no positive out come , this week I went in to hospital again , I had a Palative Care and pain management physician looking after me ..I had my nerve route numbed and steroids injected into my back ...

Well its been 24 hours since I had that done and apart from this splitting head ache I am feeling on top of the world very little back pain and the killing pain running my leg has gone for now anyway , I felt so good last night I even played "Stand By Me " the old Billy E king song from the movie with the same name ....( my version of it anyway )

I have not been able to play for more then a minute since September as the strumming or picking would literally bring tears to my eyes ..

Just wanted to let everyone know why I ain't been around for ages then I started popping in every now and then ...
See ya all on the boards ..
Cheers

Good to hear from you, Trev.

Sorry about the accident and please also accept condolences on your family's loss.

But it sounds like things are getting a little better. Hopefully you'll be playing on a regular basis again very soon. Maybe we'll even get a few recordings for the SSG?

Good to see you around again.

Peace

Sorry to hear all that Trev. I kind of wondered where you were. I hope you get feeling your old self real soon.

Sorry about your loss and your accident. Good luck with continued recovery. Glad you can play some guitar now (amongst other things, I'm sure). :)

I can relate to back pain. I have deteriorated, deteriorating and bulging discs in my spine and arthritis in my neck and left shoulder, as well as bone spurs in my lower back that affect my hips. I take pain meds and muscle relaxers on a daily basis. I'm glad you did the nerve numbing thing! A friend of mine did that and it helped her immensely!

And, I'm sorry about your family's loss!

Just get back to that guitar and it'll be therapy all by itself! (Oh, btw, it's Ben E. King, not Billy E. King!)

Glad you're doing better!

Yea sorry to hear about the back pain I'm very familiar with that. I had the sciatic thing going on for about 4 years, it pretty much incapacitated me until I went to a doctor that prescribed some strong anti imflammatory meds. The relief was amazing in a matter of days that constant shooting pain that felt like a hot iron running down my leg stopped. The pain was really becoming unbearable not so much that it was so intense but that it was constant and never went away no matter what i did.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law also my condolences.

I can relate to back pain.

Ouch, me too - had problems all my adult life, since an accident at age 11. I have a severly displaced vertebra that causes pressure on certain nerves, leading to loss of feeling and lumbar pain. Still, I can live with that - just part of growing old! - and it isn't much compared to 3 slipped discs (I've had ONE slipped disc, that was more than enough, thank you very much!) and three ruptured discs....I'm surprised you've even thought about guitar, Trev.

Good to hear things are on the up, though - sounds like you've really been through the wringer. My condolences on the loss of your father-in-law, too....look after Mrs. H!

:D :D :D

G'day Trev,

So sorry to hear about the lousy time you've been having. Good to hear that you're at least making some progress with the back problems. Coincidentally, I was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were going. I'd seen your thread about having difficulty with soloing over backing tracks, and it occurred to me that if I had a video camera I could just pick up the guitar, press play and then say "Hi Trev, how about trying this, and this and maybe even that..." and then post a link to the clip. Anyway, that may or may not happen, depending on whether the current rush of enthusiastic blood to the head about videos lasts or not.... But it's good to see you back here, with at least some hope positive signs for the rest of the year.

Keep improving mate.

Cheers,

Chris
