There seems to be a lot of current interest in doing jams and collaborations.

Here is a backing track called "Dry County." What the name has to do with the track, don't ask me, I just downloaded it.

[edit: TheTallCoolOne is hosting this jam (see his posts below for details on the breakdown.)]

For those who may not know, a dry county is one in which no alcoholic beverages can be sold. Side story--we were in North Carolina on vacation some years ago, and without even knowing we were in a dry county, I asked at a restaurant if they had any O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer. I got the deer-in-the- headlights look from the waitress and we were treated like outlaws for the remainder of the meal. Being from the land of (real) beer and cheese, I found that quite amusing.

Anyhoo, here's the link to the Dry County BT:

Cheers.... :)

I was about to post a backing track myself but I really like this one and would try my hands at hosting a jam.
So if there's anyone interested in jamming on this nice piece, raise your virtual hands! :D

Yves

By the way, Margaret, I'll probably do OK on the technical side of this, but the logistics.... :?
Do I have to say what part is what? (I mean the timing for each spots?)

All right, TTCO, stepping up to the plate! We have some hungry jammers hanging around here, I just know it.

Yes, typically, the host will divide the BT into segments and post the time slots for folks to sign up for. If you want a slot yourself, it's fine to go ahead and pick your slot or wait and take the last one left, however you'd like to do it. Take a look at the original posts for any of several previous jams and you'll get the idea.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions or be of any help.

OK, so this is quite a short piece, therefore small time slots, about 40 sec each.

Slot 1 - 0:00 - 0:40 - Crank-N-Jam
Slot 2 - 0:40 - 1:26 - alouden
Slot 3 - 1:26 - 2:00 - khelbanzon - COMPLETED
Slot 4 - 2:00 - 2:40 (The End) - smokindog - COMPLETED

This track is quite interesting, very reminicent of the 80's epic metal era.
It has 3 distinct sections: (I'm no pro at this so bare with me)
1st one (slot 1) is kind of a grandiose intro, probably due to the proeminence of the piano sound. It really calls for a pretty melody done with power and strength. Chords used in that section are Bb, F, C, G and Am.
2nd, (slot 2) (the most interesting, IMHO) is very open to various styles and it can be rhythmically challenging. The bass drum/bass accents and then the increasing rolling snare call for a crescendo climaxing at the start of section 3. Chords in this section are Dm and C.
3rd, (slot 3 and 4) this section is very typical of the guitar wankfest of those 80's metal band. The chords are Dm, C, Am and Bb.

Hope you'll all enjoy working on this very nice backing.

Yves

PS, I'll take a slot if one player is missing in a team.
I'm going to work on the full track anyhow. I got some ideas I want to work on.

How am I doing Margaret?

:D You're doing great, Yves!

It is a little different sort of backing track, with the varied character of the sections, isn't it?

As the original poster, I'll see if I can edit the title of the thread (not sure, as I've never done that), or I'll ask a mod to do it, to make it clear there is a jam looking for players. [edit: thread title changed]

You should decide if you want to do only one version of the jam (limit to four players), or if you want to commit to editing multiple teams, such as the Funk Jam and the Jam Incubator and Pink are doing. Entirely up to you and how much time you want to put into it.

I'm not a limiting kinda person so we'll go for as long as there are players interested in this jam, one team or 1000!
I spend my time in front of the PC anyways, since my TV let me down during the hollidays (Ain't got no dough for a new one right now) so I might as well make that time productive. :D

SOLD!
Slot #3 is appointed to the gentleman in the front row, Khelbanzon.
Welcome aboard. :)
