Well, I won't be buying the CD that's for sure.....

Perhaps I could mention my own attempts at the World Record for playing Duelling Banjos SLOWLY.

The initial attempts were as duets. The first one failed about eight months into the song when my friend and I fell out over whose turn it was to turn the page on the music stand...

The second one was abandoned after only two months. Things were looking good, until I realised - only a few bars into the song - that it was my friend's cue to come in, but that he hadn't actually turned up. :(

The third (solo) attempt began early in 2000 but was stopped half way through 2002 when I noticed that I was in the wrong key....

Wish me luck for the current attempt. :) I finished an 18 month tuning up phase in May and am currently half way through a dramatic pause for effect before I begin. I hope to play the first note in early September, and maybe get to the end of the first bar in time for Christmas....

Cheers,

Chris

I'm not entirely serious here of course. But some folks ARE. John Cage wrote a piece to be played As Slow As Possible. It was originally for piano, but was adapted for organ. A 'performance' is currently under way that will take centuries to complete. It began with one and a half years of silence... 8) Sounds a little bit like the way I practice guitar...

Now that's S L O W...

Maybe that silence was an extended edition of his silent song? I'm sure he's laughing so hard when he sees what all those artsy wankers are doing. :D

The banjo guy is pretty fast, doesn't seem like much compared to Bela Fleck or Noam Pikelny though.

And that thing about the 600 year song is pretty neat, is anyone allowed to play it faster before its debut?

I wish to play 'Duellin' Banjos' someday. Mr. Roy Clarke does it brilliantly with Chet Atkins.

This one in the video is pretty good too. Who said Banjos weren't fun !

That guy was fast. :D

I was always a big fan of Flatt and Scruggs. Here is a video of Earl Scruggs with a bunch of banjo players including Steve Martin. And Steve is pretty great himself. But Earl is The Master. 8)

Yeah, Steve is great.

I was looking for the Orange Blossom Special on YouTube, always enjoy a banjo version (fiddle too) and ran across these guys. This guy can give that fellow with the Guiness record serious competition easily.

Comedian Billy Connolly knows his way around the banjo too. :)

Billy plays Cripple Creek

Maybe there's an affinity between humour and banjos... :)
