Is he changing the words any? As I remember, it was a pretty pro-cocaine song. (Of course, I'm old and what the heck do I remember anyhow.)

I read an article about this "reemergence" of Clapton playing this song live. The fact is, he's been playing this song live for at least the past five years, so I don't know why it's being talked about like he's had it in a vault for 30 years.

I for one always took it as a pretty clear anti drug song. "If you wanna get down, down on the ground, Cocaine." "She dont lie, she dont lie, she dont lie; cocaine." The moral of lyrics, to me, is that it may seem like the cool, in thing to do, but it's not and it'll cost you. That's been my interpretation of it. I guess we'll have to ask J.J. Cale.

I think you've got it right. I think many also forget that it's J. J. Cale's song.

Well we all shine on--like the moon and the stars and the sun.
