That's right, you heard it here first. We deserve our own holiday.

Civil Rights advocates have MLK day, and where would the civil rights movement been without folk singers like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Woodie Guthrie strumming the guitar and singing about injustice?

A fat baby with a bow and arrow gets his own holiday, well how many people have fallen in love while listening to the sweet strains of a guitar playing their favorite song?

Trees get their own holiday, well we make our instruments out of those trees giving them a useful purpose instead of just leaving them to stand around pointlessly making oxygen.

Pregnant women get not one but 2 holidays, one for while they are carrying the baby and another for after they've had it. Well, how many of those babies were concieved in the back seat of a ford or a chevy while Foghat or some other guitar driven band was playing on the radio?

It's time for us to unite, to have our own holiday so we can have a day off from work to sit home and do nothing but hone our 6 string skills and make all these other holidays possible.

I propose Nov. 27th, Jimi Hendrix birthday to here after be known as Guitar Players Day.

Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

That's a clever idea man. I like August 27th, the anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughn's death. Sort of a memorial thing.

Well, as special as we are.. why not a day each month. Sounds like the 27th should do it. I like the idea.

Are you particularly fond of the Council of Trent? Or a fan of Sir Francis Drake's round the world journey? Or Ted Nugent's birthday?
Secondly, are bass players included in this ?

They'll be ignored and unappreciated as usual.

I propose May 8 -- birthday of Robert Johnson.

Alternately, February 14th is the day Fernando Sor was born -- and he, perhaps more than anyone else, brought the guitar into prominance as an instrument.

Wahay! June 12th is my birthday! Not that I'm a famous guitarist (yet!), but still, make a good day even better!

Conflict of interest here... 6/12 is my anniversary. Which really makes it guitarist's wife's day at my house :)

That would be double-neck (6/12) guitarist's day.

I see an EDS-1275 in your future.... ;)
