So, am how many folks out there listen to "Alice's Restuarant" while making dinner? Or am I the only one out there that does that? :)

Here in Norway that day doesn't have a function. I know about the turkey part, but what else, and why??

[halloween has drifted over the atlantic and stuck, guess thanksgiving will follow shortly if somebody realise how they can make money from it :-) ]

Lol, Rock 107 was playing that every once in a while today and giving stuff away to the 7th caller. (Rock 107 is the local classic rock station here in the Scranton area). Even though I wasn't cooking I still listened to it, so I guess your not the only one. :D

' I dont want a pickle. I just wanna ride my motor sicle.' thats a great old movie I forgot . the album was really funny.

thanksgiving at our house is about all the family getting together and enjoying the epitome of comfort food and each others company. it is all about being with each other, nodding out, and playing laugh filled board games after dinner.
we try hard to keep uber commercialism out of it.

Woah, awesome. I live in the scranton area too, and listen to Rock 107 all the time.
BUT, it isn't the only classic rock station around. Don't forget "the mountain."

Sweet. I think there's someone else on the forum from Wilkes-Barre too. So far that makes three of us. And don't worry. I didn't forget "The Mountain". I just said Rock 107 since that's what my radio dial is glued to. :D

Lol. I love that show. That has to be the best music video I've ever seen.

For those who haven't seen it I found it on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv0xBVFl0II

Ok, I'll stop hijacking the thread now. Sorry about that. :D

I used to listen to 'Alice's' every year; but my family seems to have developed a new tradition: We watch 'School of Rock' after the main meal. It's happened twice. Next year will confirm it.

Happy TGD to all.

lars, as far as I can remember, it is a remembrence of the first feast the Pilgrims and the 'Indians' (Native Americans) had. But for the modern culture, it is a day in which all the family comes together, give thanks to God for what they have in life, eat turkey, corn, potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin/apple pie, and whatever other foods they want, drink lots of wine :) , and just talk togethger and relax. And in most American families, watch the football game on TV, although my family has always been more partial to the Bond'athon' on Spike ;)

Happy thanksgiving everyone.
