And the half stack is gonna heat up a lot. Correct me if I am wrong here.

Yeah, they get hot fast.

I'm still considering an EVH 5150 III

Ewan McGregor: I said, "Eve, I want you to look after my wedding ring while I'm away," and she started to cry and I said, "Eve. Eve, I can't wear my ring or I won't get laid on the trip!"

You could get yourself a 1x12 or 2x12 cab and buy yourself something like the Orange Tiny Terror head. Highly rated amp switchable between 7w and 15W.

I now see that there is also a Tiny Terror combo

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

I had my 1987X Plexi Reissue Modded with a master volume, and it allows me to crank both volumes to 10, but keep the master down to room volumes. I am able to get the cranked Marshall sweet spot without killing my ears, or having cops come to the house. Then when I do need to take it up, I can blow dust off the shelves. I have a 4x12 Avatar with greenbacks with the head.

I am a believer that you need your dream amp, the one you always wanted, and the one your grandkids will be fighting over when you die. After you have that, then you add to the guitar collection.

Heres a YouTube I put up to show the low volume sounds I can get:

The answer to which one to buy is actually - neither. Get more skill, knowledge and talent first. Lessons, musical buddies, or just plain old study and practice will take you further than just buying more kit.

Of course, I didn't take this advice myself  and bought several amps, which are now mostly stored in the shed. Meet one of my less smart purchases. An absolute bargain, new from a half price sale at a local store, and unusable in the house. It now lives under a cover in the shed.

Chris
