Hi ,

Many times we are down in the deepest and we turn to various things to lift ourselves.
Among them music is an essential to me.And there are various songs specially meant for the above purpose.

I don't have a big list of such songs and right now the song that inspires me like anything is -

''Eye of the tiger'' by survivor (Rocky III theme )

I would like to hear more of such songs which can fill some fire in your belly.
So if you know any of those , or your favourites , bring them up here. 8)

Thanks ,

Rahul

I assume this is serious

Toss up between the first two

"Magdalena" & "Dinah-Moe-Hum" ~ Frank Zappa

also "wind beneath my wings" ~ Bette "Diva-Rose" Midler

and more recently "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" ~ Busta Ryhmes

Of course it's serious.

I find inspiration in the following tunes:

“Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” - Toby Keith - Because nothing promotes peace and love better than vengeance.

"The End" - The Doors - I play this to "get in the zone" whenever I have to boat up a jungle river to assassinate a renegade megalomaniac ex-Marine.

"Karma Chameleon" - Culture Club - It's just an amazingly uplifting tune, with the brilliant uniting chorus lyric "We all shine on!" A career highlight from one of rock's legends. Uhm ... er ... :clears throat: ... oh. Never mind.

"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."

Generally Sad/Depressed - "Now" - John David Webster
Breakup song - "Best I Ever Had" - Gary Allan

I can break it down further into shades of emotions if you like.

Do you all really get inspired by the songs you have mentioned ?

Is it the words or the music or the tone of the singer that inspires you ?

My number one inspiratational song about breakups is called "Prayer to God" by a band called Shellac.

Guys if you've ever been screwed over by a girl this is the song to really gather some inspiration from.

Warning: This song is not for the faint of heart or anyone that feels offended by graphic language!!!!

But it was the first song I learned to play,(it's sooo easy) and it's a great way to relief the stress of a bad breakup.

"It's all about stickin it to the man!"
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!

In the songs I've mentioned it's the combination of all three, the lyrics, the quality of the singing and delivery and the musical composition and how it's performed. (The 'don't laugh' was said tongue in cheek, my family are always ribbing me about trying to get them to borrow the video from the video shop frequently; Christopher Plummer's guitar playing and singing are so moving)

If it's not bothersome to ask Rahul. can you please name a good CD with ragas that are inspiring and yet calming that would be available in the west, much abliged :)

A good acoustic guitar instrumental CD that I find inspiring at the moment is Endless Road by TOmmy Emmanuel, the opening tunes are heart warming. THe last song on the CD is just him singing the song 'Today is mine' by Jerry Reed, also inspiring.
