Gibson coming out with a Lifeson Signature ES335 custom shop guitar soon. If you've got a spare $4,500 sitting around ...

It's Bonus Letters day soon........What's the exchange rate? .....1.97...so, that's £2,284.26 give or take a bit on the spreads......

Hmmmmmmmmm. Tempting.

But not as tempting as a Gretsch White Falcon.

LIFESON HITS THE TILES -

Detroit garage-prog-metal-rockers Tiles released their new CD "Fly Paper" yesterday, featuring our boy Alex on a track called "Sacred & Mundane." The Rush influence is very obvious on their music, but there's more: Terry Brown, who produced many of the classic Rush albums, is their producer, and Hugh Syme, who did some of Rush's artwork and played keys on some albums, also does the Tiles' album art and some keyboard work for them too!
And in response to the curious Rush fans, all the predominant guitars you hear are Alex (electric and acoustic). A bit of trivia for this song is that Hugh Syme played an uncredited keyboard part in the bridge (underneath Alex' celtic acoustic guitar motif). Since it tended to blend in with Chris' keyboard parts we didn't bother to give Hugh (yet another) credit...

You can hear tracks on their myspace page:
http://www.myspace.com/tilesmusic

and download full-length MP3s of a handful of their songs on their web site:

Tiles opened for Dream Theater on their European tour in 1999, I believe.

Oh man... I'd love a semi-hollow, and Alex used to shred on an old Gibson semi back in the day. Anyone have a picture??

I'll be going to the July 7th show at beautiful Mohegan Sun Arena here in CT. While these Rush geezers have been beneath the radar with their music for the last 15 years, they can kick the butt of musical acts when it comes to playing live. If you haven't seen these guys live you really should treat yourself, even if you are only a casual fan. You'll be amazed at how tight these three are... I swear you won't hear a bad note or off-key vocal all night.

Just got CENTER SECTION tix for July 19th! Should have a great view and near-optimal sound; one row in front of the mixing booth, slightly to the Lerxst side. Whoo!

Thanks for the link! Be sure to check out his other article which is the story of him taking his wife to a Rush concert. It's pretty funny. :)

Interesting comment about the 1/2-capo; I use one often when I play acoustic at church. Me and Lerxst!
