I liked that. :D

Seriously, that was a great band backing David Lee. That was very lively and entertaining.

David Lee Roth was the lead singer for one of the most successful Rock bands of all times. Yet, he is not hung up about music. He can actually perform something other than Rock.

Rock is great. But other types of music are great too. David Lee knows. 8)

Gotta agree with Wes here... That was really cool, a different take on a classic song. DLR, ok, maybe a little cheesy, but I think if he was holding an instrument it wouldn't have been so weird, you know what I mean? If he was playing maybe one note on a guitar ever 30 seconds, it'd be a little less funny to watch him, just because his hands would have had something to do other than make him look like an old guy who's not so hip anymore

His voice still sounds great though. Don't agree with you patzer, age can add experience and make an artist better.

Looks as if Diamond Dave is morphing into Neil Diamond.

The bluegrass backup had it going, but sorry, DLR wasn't really doing much for it. As for rockers aging, I think Roger Daltry is one of the few who pulls off straight ahead rock without ending up a self-parody.

BTW, the best alternative cover version of this tune was done years ago by Aztec Camera.

Most of the time I can't get those YouTube videos to run; as is the case here, it just keeps saying loading.

DLR is going to be at the fairgrounds here in Mobile in August, and you can bet your but I'll be there. I can't pass up the opportunity to see him perform.

Too bad: clicking on (kingpatzer's) link brings up the following message:

You know, this brings up an interesting topic. Why does Rock discriminate against age? Country doesn't, neither does Jazz, Blues, or Classical music. In fact, most genres of music honor the older and more experienced musician.

Rock and Roll wasn't pioneered by such young musicians. I believe Chuck Berry was about 35 when he hit it big. Bill Haley was older too. While Elvis was young, his band was older.

Many Classic Rock bands are still touring today, and most say they play better than ever. Of the top money making bands, most are Classic Rock bands like the Rolling Stones, Eagles, Elton John, and on and on.

People should get over this age hangup.

Here Pollster's latest (this week) poll of the most successful touring acts.

http://www.pollstar.com/news/top50.pl

Amazing, far more Classic Rock bands than modern. And look at who the most successful modern acts are.... Mariah Carey? American Idols Live?? What a joke.

If you ask me, looks like us geezers are kicking you young folks you know what.

I respect the older musicians a lot more than than the younger ones. Nothing bothers me more that a cocky musician who can't even play. That and my brothers rap music. *Quakes in fear*
