Ahhhh....sweet.. :D
Reminds me of the old joke about the drunk who won a baby tortoise at a sideshow shooting gallery at the fair.
Five minutes later he lurches back to the shooting gallery, picks up one of the rifles and, against all expectations, hits the targets again and wins another prize.
"OK" says the sideshow guy "which prize do want this time?"
"Hic...... Well, mate..." says the drunk "...another one of them hot crusty pies would be good...."
 Tortoise shell picks, indeed!!
I took the bait, expecting to see a cute picture of a bouncing baby.
What kind of a turtle is that? And how big is it? More importantly, how big will it GET?

Zelda is a baby Red Footed Tortoise, about 2 months old. She's a nice palm size now. She'll grow to ~40-50 lbs, and should live 50 years or more. She's a good eater, preferring fruits and vegetables, but she eats a little meat. She's a very engaging little creature. Interesting to watch how she studies everything and plans what she's going to do.
We've had a grandturtle for a while, Yoda. He's some sort of slider. I think he might be a red eared slider; he's getting some red on his cheeks. He's not as sociable as Zelda, but he's learned that Mrs. Rico is a sucker for his begging like a baby bird. He does love to eat, and his preferences are the opposite of Zelda's. He goes wild over meat, and turns up his nose at his veggies.
The general terminology is that turtles are aquatic and tortoises are terrestrial. I've always pretty much called 'em all turtles, but Jennifer gets in high dudgeon and corrects me if I refer to Zelda as a turtle.

Here are some lines from Alice in Wonderland that might help... or not... :P
"When we were little," the Mock Turtle went on at last, more calmly, though still sobbing a little now and then, "we went to school in the sea. The master was an old Turtle--we used to call him Tortoise--"
"Why did you call him Tortoise, if he wasn't one?" Alice asked.
"We called him Tortoise because he taught us," said the Mock Turtle angrily: "really you are very dull!"
Cheers
Chris
That's great!
