Okay guys brand new here, glad I found the site actually because I wanted to get the pros opinion on which "vaule pack" I should get?

#1) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Bass-Pak-with-Rumble-15-Amp?sku=519634

#2) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-Artcore-Ser-Hollowbody-without-Tremolo?sku=519527

I myself am leaning towards the Ibanez due to the tuner and dvd video vs the no tuner and vhs video squire has to offer but I can easily be swayed if the squire is better quality sound and durability.

I am just getting into bass as a fun hobby, If I want to take it more serious I will definately upgrade later but for now it's just me and a few friends in a basement with a kit, guitar and bass!

Thanks a lot!

I think you might want to focuss on the bass-guitars themselves. The extras aren't really worth much in either case anyway. The main difference I see here is that the Squier is based on Fender's 'Precision Bass' whereas the Ibby is based on Fender's 'Jazz Bass' design. The sound difference should be pretty big so you might want to chose between that first. Also, starterpacks usually do not come with a great set-up so there can be big differences in how two Squiers od the same model play. So make sure you actually play the guitar you are going to buy in the store, never settle for a closed box. Finally, IMHO both guitars would do well providing they have been decently set-up.

I personally got this one:

coupled with:

It suits my home-recording needs excellently. If you mostly want to play with others you could exchange the V-amp for:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Ultrabass-BXL900-90W-1x12-Bass-Combo?sku=481099

Loud enough for jamming (15W bass amps are usually VERY quiet!), good quality, nice speaker. Coupled with the bass about as expensive as the sets, so decide for yourself. Whatever you do, have fun!

Hey thanks for all the info I really appreciate it, I will look around at the other options you gave me...as for the 15w being very quiet you're right I went down to my local music shop and tried out the squire, I liked the feel to it tho I'm afraid I don't have much experiance knowing whats good and whats bad but the more I think about it, skipping the pack and just getting a tuner a decent starter bass and a mid ranged amp seems like the best way to go.

Cheers and Thanks :)

Jeff.
