Hard to impress any slide player with sustain. Vibrato will keep it going untill you get tired of hearing it. :D

I have a bootleg of a version of "Europa" by Carlos Santana where he holds that one note for over two minutes. It got kind of annoying actually.
Despite all the pursuit of sustain -- it's rarely as cool and interesting as good, dynamic playing. Vibrato probably was invented to make sustain interesting (as well as increase it and make those held notes emulate the human voice).

Ehhh, that's not even like real sustain :P It sounds like its just being replayed over and over....
I think its awesome when done tastefully, Santana does some great things with just letting the feedback go for 20 seconds, its cool.

My mate Dylan, from school, could hold a note for what seemed like weeks, whilst other memebers of the choir were trying to distract him. This was singing, people!
