List 3 NEW (last 3 years) bands or musicians that YOU think you'll still be listening to in 10 years!
I would write out a list of my own, but I can't think of any.
I guess I could of put Velvet Revolver, but you KNOW Weiand won't be alive in no 10 years!
So, I'm gonna break my own rules and say the...............The White Stripes.
I just thought of three...
1. Cream
2. Pink Floyd
3. The New York Dolls
Oh wait.......damit!  :o
- Lamb
- Silvertide
- Arjen
Maybe, Jack Johnson...
Nah, I think I'll be sick of him in 10 years. Unless he goes Death Metal or something. That would be interesting.
A Death Metal Jack Johnsson -
Argggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Nope, it wouldn't work.
1. Nickel Creek
2. Queens of the Stone Age
I *think* both of these are new enough to qualify....but I could be wrong.
3. Can't really think of another, so I'll second the White Stripes
- Lamb
- Silvertide
- Arjen
Never heard of the first two. But Arjen I know! :D Will keep a close watch. 8)
Very interesting thread.
Oddly enough, I asked the same question yesterday to the guy who runs our local music shop. He wasn't too sure. :?
My collection is all 20th century artists or before (some WELL before...). I haven't got a single CD from anybody who you'd call a 21st Century artist.
A lot of stuff produced today sounds pretty crummy to me. But, to be honest, most of the stuff that was cranked out in any other era was pretty crappy too. We just nostalgically remember the best.
There does seem to be a "Made for Video clip" element about a lot of recent stuff though. With emphasis on grabbing some quick visual attention rather than making stuff to last.
I'll try and sample a few of the recommendations here. :)
Cheers, Chris
Lamb is a female vocalist with an electronics dude, Silvertide a young rock band, really oldschool rock. Muse is good as well, Coldplay and Counting Crows also have some classics. Radiohead had some really different and cool albums since 2000. Check it out, who knows?
Thanks Arjen,
I've never heard Radiohead, but I've seen a lot of references to them, so I'll start there, and then work through your other suggestions. Time to find out what I've been missing :)
OK, I got one....
Los Lonely Boys
I hope on their second album they lose the "good guy " image, though.
Angelo Debarre. He's been around for a few years, maybe he's too old to qualify.
Sylvain Luc, the duet cd with Bireli Legrane is astounding stuff.
Maybe Shareefah C. Abdullah . . .what I've heard of her so far is pretty good stuff.
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." -- HST
Los Lonley Boys have definitly been coming out with some good stuff.
Coldplay as well.
Derek Trucks has been around for a while, but has never been popular with the masses and is still ridiculously young. He does some amazing things on the guitar.
Replace "Derek Trucks" in the above paragraph with Robert Randolph and there's another.
After that, I'm not so sure.
Anna Popovic
Robert Randolf
John Meyer
Los Lonely Boys
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

Crossfade
Silvertide
The Darkness
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Robert Randolf - I've heard a LOT of good stuff about him. I'm still waiting for my boss to lend my the CD, she's HOGGIN' it!
Seether
I agree with Coldplay, too.
