I'm having some trouble getting a smooth transition in a couple of places

--------------3-------------------------
----3---------0--------------------------
--------------0--------------------------
----3----------------------------------
--------------------------------------
----------------------------------

Both half notes.

And below, I can't for the life of me play evenly
--------------------------------------
-----------------------------------
------------5-------3----------------------
--4-4-4-4------4----------------------------
----------------------------
-------------------------------

Any finger position tips? Ive been leaving my hand in place and stretching to reach the far notes.
6 eigth notes and a quater note

Any suggestions about the mechanics of lifting tilting the bar?

do you know slants?

that last measure where one note stays on 4 with the 5 and 3 on the string above it looks like you anchor the slide on the 4 then pivot from 5 to 3.

forgive me I not too good with TABS. also I dont have my lap steel right here.

you mentioned bar chatter. I dont see where the bar would chatter; but then I play lap steel and the frets are about a mile below the strings.

on my acoustic, not really set up for slide, I get chatter . just a bit. it's acceptable because it sounds natural.

as I experience more and more slide work I have learned that the bar doesnt have to stay on the strings all the time.
I lift off. there is a bit of a buzz when I put the bar down on a vibrating string. I am learning to pick block and palm mute to illiminate that.

many great players use a bullet bar. its great for single note runs as the bar tip is the only part on the string.

if you are playing finger style bottle neck then I apologize becaue I might have wasted your time.

mia culpa.

Actually it's lap steel style on a tele set up for bottle neck slide, which is probably part of the problem, however it's the only thing I have at the moment. Also the only laop steel slide I have a the moment is the non-bullet tiped bar with grooves. Though I'll be getting a bullet bar in a few weeks.

I didn't know about that type of slant and pivot, I'll have to give it a try. Thanks. Any more ideas? Anyone?

the bar with the grooves in the sides...sounds like a Stevens bar. I have one. I like it.
now I have a Dunlop round ned. sure helps on some things.

Im still not sure about that tab,.

it does look like the slide stays on the 4..angles up for the 5 and angling back for the 3.
dunno sorry.

bar chatter is somewhat normal. listening to slide recordings I ususally hear some bar slap . makes it authentic. maybe.
