Here's a slide I overdubbed to a very tricky backing track by Carlos Eduardo Arellano, a fantastic Venezuelan player. I did it on my Strat, in standard tuning, using a heavy brass slide. I played it into my RP100 and then straight into Adobe Audition.

If you'd like to have a go at it, the backing track is at http://www.carlosarellano.com/add-a-track/ ... I'm sure Carlos won't mind me posting that link. You'll also find the chord chart there.

All the best, keep on slidin'

You start hearing a LOT of slide in different stuff, when you get to know it.

Try this Dogbite:

Right Click on the MP3 download URL in Kirk's post, Left click on 'Save Target As' and save it to Desktop or wherever you chose

After it is finished downloading you can either click on 'Open' in the completed download window OR click on the Icon where you saved it and play it.

That is the way I often have to do it, probably because I have several media players and I don't keep track of the scrambled settings so one may over-ride the other (my guess).

I am doing that right now because it didn't work by just clicking the MP3 link. I'll let you know if it works in a moment. The file is 3.23MB:

YES it works fine.

Beautiful Slide Work Kirk! I don't have any effects pedals etc., yet and a Wah pedal is at the top of my list for effects, (low income operation here)

(Added on Edit) Before you click 'Save' you can Edit the Name of the file- for example put the TITLE and ARTIST in the file name so you wil always know who it is.

I think that method will work for you Dogbite.

That is a beautiful backing track from very good musician. I am checking out his website right now. Thank you, Kirk.

By the way, Kirk, if you see this, when I first became obsessed with playing blues and slide a few years ago I found your website and read over it thoroghly, probably more than once. I sent an email to you asking how I could buy your book about chord shapes via regular mail since I don't have any kind of credit card.

I didn't get a reply, you were probably very busy, no doubt.
In any case, I am on low income medical disability so I have to manage my music expenses in a prioritized manner, one thing at a time. Next thing up is a digital recording device, which I am saving for. I actually don't keep a list but your book is in the sort somewhere. In fact I use a tabbed browser called 'Deepnet Explorer' (FREE) which is my favorite browser and I have your website open as I write this. Actually I have about 15 different web pages open all in tabs across the top of my screen so I can click on any tab and instantly see that page without backspacing, reloading the page, etc. (this is why I like Deepnet Explorer- I use the commercial version without P2P- just find the site and check it out if interested).

Anyhow, I am reviewing your website right now with renewed interest in your book. Personally, I would have to depend on some method other than online transaction to purchase the book, so if that sort of provision is available via information at your site, that would be convenient.

Also, thank you very much for all that you share with us on the web.

Thanks for all that Phangeaux, I sure do appraciate the feedback. I'm sorry about not getting back to you ... the email must have slipped through unnoticed because I always get back to potential customers!

Could I ask you write me at kirk(AT)kirklorange.com regarding PlaneTalk?

Cheers, and thanks again. Here's a bluesier one, over a neat backing track I'm using for my 'Slide In Standard And Dropped D' dvd I'm working on.
