more aha!
I like it. thanks.
Yeah, it's a great tuning,- besides it's obvious jazzy 'swing' character it's great for blues/Sacred Steel stuff.
Back when I had the GeorgeBoards 8-string I used to tune it like this: EBDEG#BC#E (I chose E because of the 22,5" scale of the GB),- that's the ultimate blues/jazz tuning in my book. Many Hawaiian and western swing players skip the middle E and tune it to F# instead, which makes it a more 'correct' 13th tuning, but that's too confusing for me,- I need that root note in the middle...
I may ask Jason to build me an 8-string version of the Bel Aire later, possibly with a Fender Stringmaster pickup setup......

yes. this tuning has 'it'. I am listening to some Hawaiian. I hear this tuning.
I reaslly emjoy the single note licks that present themselves so readily. fast too. I have to work out those slants. I have found an interesting I V VII in G starting on the 5th fret. there still is something missing that I want to hear instead of the V. I like the Vii as there are some playful open strings to mess with.
I have been thinking eight sring lately. it will be awhile, but am sensing a need.
I saw a Bronson lap steel over at Willies American Guitar (not pictured). it's a tiny thing in MOTS. the pickup is a string through like the Stringmaster. unplufgged this steel had some nice resonance.
399$ was too much.
