Its a Mike Dowling signature slide.....$34.00 US
Nice heavy glass....sustains as good as my Heavy Brass slide but has a smoother tone. :D

Then there's blue...

I've only got two so far. One's red, the other's purple. (With a clearcoat.)

Are they that much sweeter than, let's say, a Dunlop pyrex 2"jobbie?

Yes. I used a Dunlop Pyrex and a ceramic Moonshine slide before I got my first Diamond - it was almost like getting a new guitar...

IMO Pyrex slides are at the very bottom of glass slides. I do have some and occasionally use one, but I like pretty much every bottleneck I've ever cut better than those. The Diamond bottlenecks are just good old bottlenecks, but very professionally and skillfully cut and polished. The Ultimates are different, being made of leaded crystal. It's a lot denser than common glass types (24% lead) making for a heavier slide for a given size. That's what gives them such a clear, bright tone and long sustain. (They don't do vibrato sustain well, though, being so slick.) And you can get them made to order in just about any dimensions and colors you like.

Slides are great for indulging GAS. They're not a huge layout of cash, and they take up mighty little space.
