Sort of a Randy Newman/Lyle Lovett type song. Thanks to E.G. for cowriting this.
I wash my face and comb my hair
Pick out the shirt I'm going to wear
But there's one thing missing
Reservations have been made
The necessary plans are laid
But there's one thing missing
One thing missing
She's probably sitting by the phone
Waiting to hear from me
But something's gone inside my heart
I don't think she can see
We used to laugh ,we used to play
The hours would just fly away
Now there's one thing missing
The feeling's gone, it's passed me by
Can't even find a tear to cry
Over one thing missing
One thing missing
She's probably sitting by the phone
Waiting to hear from me
But she'll keep sitting, wondering
Where the h##l I could be
Now I'm up and out the door
Down the street, still looking for
The one thing missing
One thing missing
One thing missing
Replies welcome.
This seems really really solid to me. Good work. Good collaboration. Im definately feeling that Lyle Lovett vibe you mentioned. Its sad Im not more familiar with his work but what I have heard is just wonderful.
Ya'll shoulod be proud of this. If not. I'm proud for ya. Good story and I felt it. Even if the feeling was.. not feeling. Which is precisely what I think you were aiming for.
Good Stuff

Excellent job, lefty & E.G. I can't add much to what Marv said. A timeless story, re-told very well.
