Hi Paul,

I know the argument against, but can we have at least one more style for the geezers who can't see the low contrast?

Preferrably full screen like prosilver.

I like the new style, but it is a bit hard to see. Even WITH the bifocals

I'm including myself in the geezer category

I'm clearly a geezer too (probably a bit more so than you) but I think my bifocals work better! :P

What do you mean by higher contrast? Do you mean make the posts contrast each other more more? Or is it more text and background contrast you need?

I'm pretty sure they're talking about between posts. Like between the one you wrote and the one I'm writing now. The two blues are apparently close enough to each other that, for some, there is no apparent boundary between posts. The contrast between the text and the background is fine.

As a resident geezer, I'm actually not having any trouble with any of this. Instead I'm running the risk of "grumpy old man dealing with whiny children and other grumpy old men" syndrome. And my doctor specifically told me to stay away from situations like this!

Peace

That's fixable. Ill wait till a few more chime in with specifics that are hard on the eyes and take care of them all at once.

I don't think it's really whining if they do have problems seeing it. I mean if I thought that's all it was I wouldn't suggest it. But if there is someone having problems seeing it, and I can see how they might, then we should provide some relief.

Which side the Avatar is on, now that is whining. Whenever I hear that I want to move it a bit further right out of spite.

If I had my druthers, which I lost long ago and now can't find, I'd have full screen width like sub-silver and have that light blue almost white.

Paul, can we turn on Jabber for users of a single forum? Like the good karma group?

By the way, I know I'm getting all excited about this, but it's a bit like Christmas.

I'll work on posting something on how to get around in the new phpbb

I don't mind making the changes. I'd just like to have one style that works for most people.

So the color definitely needs adjustment. I might add an option to choose which side the avatar is on; but only after I've locked down all other changes that need doing. (I wouldn't even mention this outside the snack bar because I may change my mind.)

You are free to turn the Jabber on. I have no idea how to use it. Other settings can also be tweaked to your preference. The styles are the only thing I want left alone, because that's the only area where I kinda know what I'm doing.

Truly didn't mean to infer that there was whining going on here. I mean, this is where I come to get away from the whining on the rest of the board!

And I also agree that that being able to see thing is totally different from the "I can't be bothered to read a name and I can't look to the right to see who's talking because I've spent all my life (meaning two years) seeing avatars on the left."

It's all lack of sleep the past week, I suspect...

Okay, totally moronic question - what are (is?) "jabbers?"

Peace

My only problem is just the lack of contrast between posts and the avatar section. Maybe putting some kind of dark line between them? I'm actually starting to like the avatar on the right side

I think the avatar on the right works well. I really do. It emphasizes the message not the messenger.

Another option is reading glasses.
