Why is there no way to search the forums, or am I missing something?

We have a search function, which is currently disabled. It was eating vast amounts of bandwidth so it was disabled until we could find a way to make it more efficient.

As soon as is possible, it will be back.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

I also wondered why there is no Search function.

On another forum they have setup when the band width got too high the search was disabled automatically but not disabled for paid/ contributing members.

There are ways to cut back on bandwidth used by search.
Such as only allow searches within a certain forum instead of the whole database.
Cut back on bandwith usage in other areas such as instead of allowing images to appear within posts make the images appear in a seperate window when clicked on (this way the image is only viewed when someone wants to see it and not every time the thread is opened.)
I am sure you guys are working on this and will sort it out in time.

Yes, the Fender Forum @ http://www.fenderforum.com/search.html
has this feature to search only certain forums.

I too, was looking for a search feature here, as I am a newbie.

The search function has been working for a little while now (for the record).
