Over my head I'm afraid. The pickup was pre-owned and it came with the red and white already taped together.Here's the wiring, click on the pic.Phil

If I take the cover off and put my finger on the jack socket the hum completely disappears, if I touch the back of the tone pot the humming goes too, ...

Thanks all, turned out to be an incompatible capacitor. They must be different capacitors on the PrestigePhil
