I'd appreciate any views on these two...looking to learn on a Fender..not sure which..these two or standard Jazz/ standard Precision...Thanks.
Well, I have a fender standard precision MIM upgrade. I am also learning. I bought it so I could say I had a FENDER. It play good, But I do Prefer My Ibanez SR300 it has a thinner neck, and has better sound (to me). Don't get me wrong, I don't find anything wrong with the Fender. It is all in personal preference.
I would suggest, Go to the guitar center, and try a few, and see what feels natural to you.

Exactly!! I favor Fender P-basses myself, but ya gotta get what feels and sounds the best to you.
I've heard VERY good things about the MIM P's.
