Wow, I see what you mean, JakeStauble! I just looked all over the place, & all I find are acoustic/elect. models as well. Maybe try ebay? I have seen one in person, though; In my local cd/music/pawn shop store, I came across an acoustic/full bodied bass about a year or so ago (used).

It was an Epiphone, I believe. Maybe I should have bought it. They wanted $200 for it, & it was in very nice condition...

Most of what I'm finding is in the UK......

Or, if you'd like to build your own, this one looks really cool! :D

Please note that most acoustic basses that look like oversize guitars can't move enough air to keep up with the average acoustic guitar. The reason for the "electric" pick up is so you can plug in when you have too. It's similar to acoustic guitars with pick-ups in them, so they can be played in an amplified situation.

Even a double-bass has trouble keeping up, unless bowed to get the full resonance.

You need a big ol' mariachi guitarron. That'll move some air.

Depending on where you live (Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal) you should look into a store called Steve's Music. They've got tons of stuff and a few true acoustic basses.

Heres the website:

I just took a quick look now and found a couple acoustic basses.
