I am relativly new to downtuning and I would like to know how to tune my 4 string bass to match a drop c guitar.
GN's resident learning sponge, show me a little and I will soak it up.

Tune it an octave lower than the lower four strings on the guitar: C, G, C, F.

If you for some reason don't like the sound of your bass whole it is down tuned, don't worry about it and play that C an octave up. (A-string, third fret)
Music is one of the most powerful forces on this planet, why not put it to use?

Yup, you don't have to tune your bass to match the guitars. Just play the right notes.
