I use the ring finger to free up the pinky to get that boogie woogie thing going ......... and no not picking my nose. I do that with my right hand. :lol:

oh sorry, I misunderstood. I thought that he meant an a barre chord in particular.
Ya, I agree, using your ring finger would give you a lot of versatility with the chord.
Maybe some daily finger stretches could help to loosen it up?
