Hi,

I thought I would dabble in alternate tunings, specifically CGDGCD which I have found fantastic for noodling around, maybe
just new toy syndrome but I also have a particular tune that I intend to learn.

However, no matter what I do the low C just doesn't sound quite right although all the other sound fine.
The tuners I have show it to be fine, when they finally register it.

Is this just my ears or is ther something else that could be going on.

Cheers

With the low E tuned down two full steps to C, you're usually going to have some issues with floppiness resulting in "iffy" sounds. The usual way to deal with this, particularly if you're going to be using this tuning regularly, is to use a heavier gauge low E string.

Hope this helps.

Peace
