I've been wanting to play guitar for a while and I've finally saved up enough to get one, and I've chosen the following two options. Once I get good, I hope to start to play hard rock and metal type music. Thanks for the advice.

Option 1 (SX SEG1)

Option 2 (Douglas WF-130)

My initial thought is option number 1. Two humbuckers. Even looks like a metal axe.

Agreed. Number One's a hottie. Ten bucks cheaper, too. "Ten bucks is ten bucks, eh?"

Number 1. Definitely.

I have an SX Strat, and wasn't impressed with the pickups in it. I replaced them. Now it's a great guitar. From what I've read the SEG1s have better pickups than the strat copies.

Which color do you want?

Did you see this SEG1($129)? Comes in RED or BLACK and has a Floyd Rose Trem on it. I would love to have this one.

I wonder if the Floyd Rose is any good.

If you're after the metal sound go with option one. If you want more a variety go with the Squeir '51.

If this matters, I used to live in NJ, near the old Rondo Music store (they were a regular music store for 50 years before they became an online store - the retail store recently closed). I bought my son an SX bass and it is very well made. Great for the price, which I recall was around $130. I looked over the other guitars in the store and I wasn't impressed with the Douglas axes - just my opinion, they seemed cheaply made. But, the SX guitars seemed pretty good. However, I agree with Kevin, it is darn hard to beat a Squier 51, which is only $99!

I vote # 1 for hard rock. I just bought a SX guitar from Rondo and I give it thumbs up. Mine is a Strat copy, not a metal guitar, but it is built well. No buzz on the fret board and it has nice tone considering it is rediculously cheap. The # 1 you are looking at is a copy of an Ibanez RG, a classic metal axe. It looks hot! P.S. I have "real" guitars, a Fender Strat, Gibson Les Pauls ect, and I can tell you that Rondo has good guitars. Great value. Here are the ones I bought from Rondo.
