I recently went to an acoustic blues jam and noticed that the players were adding a ton of embellishments to each of the notes in the key. At the most basic level I could tell they were using the chord, the 7th of the chord and the sixth. Past that they were moving all over the fretboard (pressumely different voicing of the same chord?) and adding different note burst (2 or 3) while everyone else was on was playing on the chord. This wasn't turn arounds but ways of spicing up the standard 1 4 5.
Can anyone recommend a good book, dvd, website to help me understand what they were doing and learn how to add some spice of my own?
