Try tuning to open A. You only have to change three strings... E-A-E-A-C#-ETo change from "standard" to Open G, you only need to change three strings. D-G-D-G-B-D.

To change from "standard" to Open D, you only need to change 4 strings: D-A-D-F#-A-D

To change from "standard" to Open E, you only need to change 3 strings: E-B-E-Ab-B-E

"Standard" tuning is just another alternate tuning. Half of it is Open G: E-A-D-G-B-E Half of it is Open E: E-A-D-G-B-E And half of it is Open A: E-A-D-G-B-E Didn't know you could split it in half three ways, I betcha! It's one strange tuning, but thinking of it as a hybrid tuning is very helpful.
