Hi deanobeano,
The diagram in David's article is really just the basic Pentatonic minor scale. There are only 5 notes in the scale, so it's being played through more than once.
The Pentatonic minor scale is just the same as the normal minor scale except that the second and sixth notes have been removed. (As Greybeard mentioned).
There is another scale often known as the "Blues Scale" but it has another notes added that David's diagram doesn't show.
