hi iam a guitar newbie and trying to get a blues setup on my guitar and amp.
i have a aria stg with 3 single pickups 5 way switch volume and 2 tone controles a stagg 20watt amp with overdrive gain tone and volume controles what would be a good setup for a blues sound
Hi Aria. Welcome to GuitarNoise.
Its hard to say. There really isn't ONE blues tone. But I would keep gain down low maybe around 3-4. As for your tone controls, maybe turn bass to 4 or 5 and turn treble up to 7. These are just suggestions.
As for your pickup selection, you could play in the neck/middle position for a Hendrix type tone. Eric Clapton is said to like the bridge/middle position. The middle position is a nice clean tone for Blues.
As I said, there is no one Blues tone. You just have to experiment and find a tone that YOU like. You will even play better when you like the tone.
Most Blues are played with a clean or slightly overdriven tone. But there are exceptions to this as well. Some people play Blues with outright distortion.
Have fun.
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis

It didn't actually start out as a blues topic, but somehow ended up that way. Beware, it's fierce!

Wes, I coulda sworn Clapton was a neck-middle guy.
