Gday,
Thought some of the beginners on here experiencing pain in their fingertips might appreciate what they have to look forward to...
This is after 20 minutes on my acoustic (with 0.13" strings)
And after 2 years playing, those grooves still haven't gone away... :)
(Yes, i have too much free time)
Peace
J

i love my callouses... i haven't been playing that long.... about 8 months... and i went on holiday for only two weeks and they almost disappeared! I was so upset as i had to go nearly back to square one and suffer all over again... actually mine are rather thick at the moment... but my fingers feel a bit bruised as i really played to much (if there is such a thing as playing too much!) last weekend. :D
strangely my husband who plays classical guitar and has done for about 20 years on and off never gets them... :?

I've been playing for about 2 years, and mine still tend to go when I'm on holiday. Must be the sea water :P
Oh and J, I don't think those grooves EVER go away! Just another way to suffer for your art I guess! :)

Haha yes, i love my callouses too! I'm even getting callouses on my thumb. =D
Also my fingers have been turning green quite a bit lately.
When you get tired of green, go with coated strings - they'll turn white instead :)

no....... how! I'm so jealous
When you play a lot of barres you'll develop a callus right at the first joint of the thumb from friction on the neck.
