I don't know a whole lot about guitars, so bear with me. I'f I'd buy the Texas Special pickups (the kind thats in the SRV signature strat) and put it into a standard strat, would i still get the SRV Tone? Or would it at least be close? By the way, i don't plan on doing this any time soon, just wondering. thanks

Read this article about SRV'S tone.

The pup's make a difference but, you have to understand that there is A LOT more than the pup's that give you the sound that you hear.

I forgot to mention, I put the Custom Shop Texas Specials in my Squire Strat. Did it make a difference......HELL YEA!!! BUT!, SRV different......close enough for me!!!

If people want to emulate SRV's sound without SRV's hands.........good luck!!! Just be happy if you get, "close enough"! That's the stage I'm at anyway.
