chords i spose

this is prolly a stupid question iono. but well i know how the formulas go for getting to a chord well the basics of it like the 1st plus 3rd blah blah blah but i do that but then how do i know where to put my fingers on the guitar for the chord how dos that work?

Once you have mastered all the basic open chords in my doc, you should be able to automatically know what fingers to best use for a 'new' chord. It will pretty much be obvious as time goes on. Remove an index finger here, add a pinky there.

You may, as time goes on find better fingerings than those suggested for the open chords - For example, I generally now use fingers 2,3 and 4 for a standard G chord instead of 1,2,3... I find there is a lot less movement involved when switching from A or C to G. And, due to my stubby fingers, I generally use fingers 2,3 and 4 for an A as well... or barre it.

But... you will find what works for you.

Whoops. Uploaded that doc too soon... noticed a few mistakes after uploading.

Fixed a few things, and added movable barre chords for 7th and Minor 7th chords.
