My Dad wrote several songs, but he pretty exclusively played in chords. Now some of us are wondering if there is a way to extrapolate notes from the chords?

Appreciate your time and help

Hi, and welcome to Guitarnoise,

A chord is simply three or more notes played together so yes, there is a simple way to write the notes from the chords. It does require you to have a basic understanding of some music theory and how notes on the neck relate to those little black dots, and the best place to start is with two of the lessons on this site:

Anything you don't understand, just ask.

Outstanding, appreciate it a lot! Will put this to good use (with the caveat that my idea of good, which involves my guitar playing "skills" on people a little more now, may not be normal people's idea of good :D ) on his works.
