I'm a beginner a little over a month into playing thr guitar. I have been working through Progressive's "Blues lead guitar method" book. I've been working on picking technique and have been doing fine (able to keep time and play clean with cd) until tonight. The new lesson tonight is in 4/4 time each bar is all 16th notes and I can not figure how to count this in my head. With 8th notes I count 1&2&3&4 my wife suggested I try 1&a2&a3&a4 for the 16th notes. So, anybody have any ideas?

BTW, I've been lurking around here for a while and I think this is a great place to learn.

I do it 1-e-&-a 2-e-&-a 3-e-&-a AndSoOn-e-&-a. I pronounce that one-ee-and-uh.

The "1&a2&a" counting is what you would count 8th note triplets with actually, just in case you'll probably encounter them in the future if you haven't already ("1 trip-let2 trip-let" works well too, and i tend to use it more often).
