I've been looking at this web page for some strumming tips:
http://www.grouptherapy.guernsey.net/strumming.html
The first one he suggests is Gadd5 to Cadd9, using DDUUD. If I want to use a metronome with this in 4/4, then is the pattern:
#1: D _ #2: D U #3 _ U #4 D _
where _ means don't strum?
Thanks!
Yes that is correct.
Cheers,
Max
Thanks. I've been trying it.
I tried mentally counting 1 an 2 an 3 an 4 but then I lose the pattern. So instead I just tap my foot, and say Down, Down, Up, Up, Down, but its hard to not the tap the foot down on each time I say a word. That is, sometimes I tap the foot 5 times instead of the 4 times each measure.
Oh well. :)

Metronome helps keep time, rhythm and tempo. see link

Interestingly enough, that rhythm pattern... G5 Cadd9 with the DDUUD rhythm is the introduction to "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" from Poison... just my 2 cents :)
