Hey again!

I think this is going to be one of those really dumb questions. I feel so useless...
How would I play something like this? I don't know how to read it.
Em D C
So close no matter how far
Em D C
Couldn't be much more from the heart

I don't understand the letters on top with the lyrics underneath... the letters represent the chords right? But do I just play them how ever many times they appear? Eg. Em, then D, then C?

You could, but usually you'd apply a strumming pattern to fill in the amount of time you need.

Yes those are the chords to be played.
I start off by just down strumming to fill in the amount of time needed until the next chord is played. Then I start adding upstrums and eliminating some down strums until I find a pattern that fits the song.
Keep in mind I have the dissadvantage of not having the recording for most of the songs I try to play and have to rely on memory of how the song sounds.
If you have a recording you can figure out a pattern to use a little easier.
