Basically, I wrote a riff using E, G, A and D (so this is key of C if I'm right?) and might rely on the CAGED system I heard about, but I don't know what that is. :D

Anyway, my friend laid some chords over it, but the only one which really stuck was the Hendrix E7#9. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some chords that would well with the E 7#9 in roughly the same area of the guitar?

These would be useful for future reference for blending into some Hendrix songs in the future too.

Thanks :)

Not so fast with the key of C, although those chords are in the C Major scale. Without the root note of C though, you need to explore a little further. For example, those chords (if some are minor) are also in the E Dorian Minor scale.

But, I am sure you will hear from the more experienced teachers on the site. I am only knowledgeable enough with theory to be dangerous  , but I am learning a lot here!
