Can anyone point out any easier Drop D songs, more in the heavy metal genre or hard rock?
I was reading that the heavier songs use more Drop D tuning.
Thanks
Uh ... I believe the main point of drop-D tuning is that a one finger barre over the bottom three strings forms a power chord:
e|---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---
B|---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---
G|---x---x---x---x---x---x---x---
D|---1---3---5---7---8---10--12--
A|---1---3---5---7---8---10--12--
D|---1---3---5---7---8---10--12--
F5 G5 A5 B5 C5 D5 E5
This makes the rhythm guitar part very easy to play, while solo fingering is unchanged from normal tuning.
This is the main reason for its popularity in metal, I have heard.

The Thing That Should Not Be - Metallica
Everlong by the Foo Fighters. It sounds good even at a fairly slow tempo as you learn.
