If anyone read my last post, I decided to buy an electric guitar and amp separate. I'm pretty set on these:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/480698/

Any thoughts on that guitar would be appreciated. I have seen good reviews of it, and it fits well in my price range (about $300 total). I assumed earlier that the cable to connect the guitar to the amp would be included with the guitar, but now I'm not really sure, so if anyone knows if I need to buy one of those too, that would really help. Also, if I need to buy one, any suggestions on specific types and lengths would really help.

From the reviews I have seen this would be a better choice and same price.

Thanks a lot man, that one looks awesome. I don't know how I missed it. Does anyone know if I would have to buy a cable for that or if it should come with one. It doesn't say anything, but I don't wanna waste $20 on a cable if one comes with it.

Hey Dude,
I too am new.. and yeah the ESP VIPER does look awesome.. Its a way kewl guitar, and I even bought it.. *** BUT ** I got it home and played on it for a few days and guess what? It hurt me... I mean the reach to the 1st fret seemed like it was WAYYY out there. My Guitar Tech at the local shop where I bought it wanted me to bring it in after a week so I did.

He asked how I liked it and I told him bout my pain and discomfort playing this thing... SO, he's so much smarter and more experienced in this stuff than I, suggested I pick up the "F-50 /F-100" heres a link http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/516677/

and asked me how does that feel? Man it was like Butter!!! EASY to play up and down the neck on this thing. So I ended up getting the F-100. He refunded all my money on the first one and I had to pay a lil more for the other, but he didn't dock me any $$ since I treat my guitar(s) like fine china. I've had it for two weeks now and I'm so stoked I was honest with the guy and told him of my discomfort.

Lesson Learned? TEST DRIVE EVERYTHING.. with YOUR Strap even. Different guitars "FIT" us differently... its like shoes or gloves almost.

I absolutly love the VIPER looks...its just sexy. But it doesn't FIT me... granted I could use to lose bout 20 lbs but nonetheless. I've since gone into stores and tested out a bunch of different guitars and I'm totally convinced.. You need to find someplace where you can actually play and try them out. Standing, Sitting.. everything. You'd be surprised.

And I'd hate to think, if your gonna buy online the hassle of having to return your loved axe back to them for something that fits you better.

Just my .02 cents.

Cheers
Dagwood :o)

Yep...you'll have to buy a cable. Make sure you get one that is long enough that you'll be able to move around a little bit. You don't want to be stuck sitting right next to your amp because your cable is too short!
