I've been playing 16 months, taking lesson for the last 2 1/2 months, all this time I've been playing on my own, never with a group. But last night I was at my father in laws house he has been playing for about 50 years, and we got a little jam session going, my brother n law joined in on the harmonica, we played some blues and country (that I wasnt familiar with) but I had a great time, I can see how playing with others could really help.
I've been very hesitant to play with him for a couple reasons, he plays very well, his taste in music is quite different from mine we know very few of the same songs, and I've just never been confident enough in my own skills to try and play with a group, but all went well I learned a little had a great time, and the music actually sounded pretty good. Even my wife who rarely compliments my playing thought we sounded pretty good.

Anyway just wanted to share my first experience playing with others....
I'm definetly looking forward to our next jam session.
