I changed strings for the first time and I had a few problems. Anyway, long story short, my D string sounds a bit fishy. What I suspect is it may have been the thicker A string but for some reason I doubt that. Is is also possible that I coiled too much string around the tuner at the top? (This string seems to stand out compared to the G and B strings).
Thanks

I'm guessing you have a plain G string... the first wound string is going to stick out a bit when you first put on a new set. After they settle for a day or two it'll sound more like you expect.
