was that a typo? you sleep 3 hours a day?

No typo... although now that I quit my M-W-F class I am back to my normal 5 hours a day.

When trying to learn something new, it's important to get a complete night's rest. Sleeping less than about 7-8 hours a night has been shown in most people to reduce their ability to assimilate new information.

Everyone's different, of course, but something to consider.

There was something in New Scientist last week emphasising that, and also pointing out that even an hour's nap (ie, no REM sleep which is when the brain is/was thought to do the consolidation of memories) can be helpful...
