Hi everyone,

Just a question to ask. I have this brand of tuner call Qwik Tune. It a automatic chromatic tuner. Duno if its available in US. I stay in Singapore. It uses one 9volt battery.

I wonder if the battery finish up real fast, as i only use for 7-8 times b4 the battery run flat. It has been like two weeks and its dead. This is my 2nd battery.

My brand of battery is EverReady(super heavy duty).

Rgds,
Kenny

That sounds like the tuner is on and draining juice all the time, Kenny.
Maybe try taking the battery out when it's not in use and see if that helps.

Hey Kenny, is that battery an alkaline type? If not you might try replacing it with one. They seem to last longer than a regular battery.

That battery is a zinc-carbon one that won't last long. Get an alkaline battery. They cost more, but last maybe 3X as long.

Be sure and turn the tuner off as soon as you're through using it.

Hi Kenny

I have one of those kicking around my home somewhere and as I recall it didn't eat batteries that quickly. Did you leave it on maybe?

Having said that I have to say that there were many times when I nearly threw that tuner against the wall so I went over to a Korg CA-30 which I found to be much more reliable and easier to use.

Hi all,

The instruction reads "will automatically turn off after two mins when not in use".

Will it drain the battery even if its off after two mins?

It should turn itself off but nonetheless it will cause some natural drainage unless you remove the batteries.

I have a Korg CA30 and change batteries only every 18 months or so.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

I may be wrong but I just feel the Korg allows me to be more accurate when tuning. Plus it has the added advantage of being less size than the Qwik Tune so easier to store away.

I've got 3 differant tuners and I can only remember changing batteries once and that was on the Quiktune. If its the same one I have the shut off button is in a spot where it can easily be turned on inadvertantly, I even built up the area surrounding the button with some duct tape.

I recently changed the 2 AAA batteries in my korg tuner, the old lasted about 2 or 3 years. I don't know the model but it's a pretty good tuner, though sometimes it doesn't pick up the high E string and apparently it's not real fond of B or even sometimes G on accoustics....

Perhaps your tuner is not shutting off when it should, if it's got a mic so you can use it to tune accoustic the automatic shutoff might not kick in, if it's heraing a lot of background noise.

I dunno I use a regular battery in mine and it'll last a long time. you have to turn it on/off manually.

Sounds like yours isn't turning off or else you using old batteries. Any battery should last longer than what your seeing they're not drawing much current.

I have a Korg, too. It is tuner and also metronome. I use it almost each other day and I bought it almost one year and never changed the batteries.

Did you read in the user manual the consumption? There are electronic devices with a high consupmtion, I remember an old digital radio that finish up the batteries in a few hours (3 or 4).

I have the exact same tuner and it does drain battery really fast. I would suggest investing in some rechargeable one though they may be expensive they are well worth the money

I didn't think you could use rechargeables with the Qwik Tune?
